Buhari Launches 2019 Presidential Campaigns
President Muhammadu Buhari has today, Friday, 28th October, 2018, flagged off his presidential re-election bid at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The arrival of the President at the venue of the campaign, was confirmed on the official Twitter handle of the All Progressives Congress.
Mickey Thrill recalls the Akwa Ibom
state government had initially refused to grant approval for the use of the
Godswill Akpabio stadium for the APC presidential campaign, citing repair works
in preparation for the 2019 Nigerian Professional League Season as its reason.
However, few hours later, it reversed its decision and
granted conditional approval.
In a statement by the Commissioner of Youth and
Sports, Mr Monday Ebong Uko, the government gave
conditional approval for the stadium to be used for the presidential campaign
rally.
The statement explained: “Following a decision by Julius Berger Plc to
recall their staff from their scheduled holiday, the Akwa Ibom State Government
has approved the use of the Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo for the flag off of
the President’s electioneering campaign on December 28, 2018.
“However, all other terms of use will remain effective.
